Whānau Pakari
Biographical Info
Whānau Pakari is a 12-month community-based, family-centred programme for tamariki and rangatahi aged 4 to 16. It helps them and their whānau to make lasting healthy lifestyle changes in a supportive environment.
The programme involves the whole whānau to support their child or teenager. The programme includes:
- one to one family support and group sessions
- fun weekly physical activity sessions
- cooking sessions and nutrition information sharing
- input from a dietitian, physical activity advisor, psychologist and healthy lifestyles coordinator with oversight from a paediatrician.
- specialised workshops and activity sessions
- medical and growth checks.
Our team of health professionals are here to walk alongside tamariki, rangatahi and their whanau to work through their priorities, strengths and challenges to empower them to make long-term, sustainable lifestyle changes that will benefit the whole whanau in their physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social hauora (well-being). We aim to take a holistic approach to supporting lifestyle change with input from a dietitian, physical activity advisor, psychologist and healthy lifestyles coordinator, with oversight from a paediatrician.
