Biographical Info
Taranaki Women’s Refuge is one of the local providers of Transitional Housing here in Taranaki. We provide temporary accommodation and support to eligible whanau who are either homeless or in unsuitable living conditions (such as overcrowding).
As part of the Transitional Housing programme we provide (or refer clients to other local organisations who provide support) with:
- Regular home visits with Transitional Housing Coordinators, who will support you on your journey to securing your own property.
- Setting up a Tenancy Portal.
- Collating a professional cover letter for potential Landlords/Property Managers.
- Property application support – tips of how to put your best foot forward when applying for properties and attending viewings.
- Budgeting.
- Liaising with other social service organisations as required to support you in your property search.
Transitional Housing has eligibility criteria, and the programme requires regular commitment to actively engaging in property search and being in regular contact/meeting with the Transitional Housing team.
