Thank you so, so much for heading to this page.
As our Koha Cafe functions on the ‘Pay What You Feel’ principle, it naturally comes with the invitation to ‘Pay it Forward’. Some of our customers choose to pay more, to cover kai for those who pay what they can or need a free feed – and, as a result, everyone gets a meal with dignity. Aroha mai, aroha atu. Donations also cover staffing costs, and make it possible to provide the kete of workshops and support that we do.
We also rely on gifts in-kind – such as home-baking, and foodstuffs for our Cafe. Everything that can be possibly sourced through donation, recycled, or repurposed always is.
Donations make our mahi possible. Nothing is wasted, and every dollar that is donated makes the difference.
Aroha mai, aroha atu – pay it forward
NgÄ mihi nui. Thank you ā SO MUCH.
“I love the staff and I feel wanted when Im here. Im not 100% sure what is offered through the cafe; I have an idea but its always expanding. Thank you for the warmth shown to me.”

“This is a super special place, that offers warmth and goodness to so many. I want you to know the changes and relief I have experienced through the wonderful mahi you all do. Nga mihi nai beautiful souls..”
Waimanako’s mahi is entirely community funded. Every day, people ask how they can help. Shouting a feed, hot drink, or tautoko is the most beautiful way to make a difference.
You wonāt ever meet the whÄnau or tÄngata whai ora you supported with your gift ā but you will never forget what you did – that someone, somewhere, made their tautoko/support possible.
Gift someone a hot inu
Pay it forward for the next person to arrive at our Cafe in need of a hot drink
Shout a cooked kai
Pay it forward for the next person to arrive at our Cafe in need of a good, nourishing feed
Shout tautoko – outreach support
Enables someone within our care to receive Outreach Support for the whole month ahead. Life-changing.
